Description
The Garland Quilt Guild meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00PM at First Presbyterian Church in the Fellowship Hall located at 930 West Ave B, Garland, TX 75040. Members arrive between 6:30 and 7:00 and show their membership cards when they come in. Unless they have a Guest Pass, visitors are charged a $5 guest fee for speaker meetings. Otherwise, visitors and guests are free to attend. Each member gets a Guest Pass with her annual dues/renewal, to give to family or friends. We feature regional and nationally known quilters as speakers in about 75% of our meetings each year. Usually a workshop is offered by the featured speaker for a nominal fee. We have 100+ members with a wide variety of skill levels and quilting interests. We are a friendly group and we welcome visitors. We have a monthly block-of-the-month program, Secret Pals, small groups, annual shop hops, an annual President's Challenge, a skills workshop, one or two internal workshops led by members, an annual raffle quilt, and an annual Christmas party. As a 501.c.3 organization. we encourage members to make quilts to donate to designated charities. Currently we are making baby quilts and lap quilts for senior citizens in nursing homes. All guild activities are optional.
