The Sharpsburg Piecemakers is a group formed in 1994. We started off with 5 or 6 members and now have over 50 members. We meet every Tuesday in the Sharpsburg Town Hall and CommunityCenter in Sharpsburg, from 10 a.m. until about 2:30 p.m. We bring our lunch and on the even months we have "pot luck" and enjoy each others specialities. In November of 2013 we took on a project to supply quilts for the Homeless Veterans Program at Fort McPherson, Atlanta. The program which takes in homeless Veterans and helps them with medical needs, job training , housing and employment. Each Veteran that participates in the program is given a quilt which is their's to keep. The quilt is presented to the men and women with a special message on a label thanking them for their service to our country. Together with the Common Threads Quilt Guild of Newnan we have given the program over 134 quilts. On the second Tuesday of each month we gather to create these quilts. We have a raffle every two yearss and the money from it is used to buy supplies for the Veterans quilts.
