A Quilt Guild’s Guide To Publicity

The purpose of most guilds is to expand the knowledge of quilting while helping certain charities. They accomplish this with meetings, shows and other events.

Quilt Guild’s Guide to Publicity

Key Publishing Success Tips:

  • Have a guild logo with the name of the guild clearly displayed.
  • Define a purpose of the guild that includes the charities you are involved in.
  • Enter your guild description as that purpose, NOT YOUR MEETING SCHEDULE. While meeting schedules are nice to know, it does not attract new people.
  • Have a quilt show at least once every two years and advertise the heck out of it.
  • Advertise the heck out of your meetings as well.

While those are the main tips, how do you accomplish this?

Advertise in the places nearly all quilters are looking for you, your meetings, and shows. The QuiltingHub Network is free to guilds and already includes most of the places quilters look for your content. The amazing thing is you enter this info once and it appears everywhere. Your national publicity is done. Next, all you have to do is advertise locally.

Adding Your Guild To QuiltingHub.com:

  • Go to QuiltingHub.com/maps, enter your postal code, click places.
  • If you see your guild, determine your admin, and be added as another admin
  • If you do not see your guild, click Advertise, and add your guild. The process will also add your meetings.

Once added:

  • Upload your logo. If you don't have one, ask QuiltingHub for help.
  • Add your guild description as mentioned above. (no meeting info!)
  • Edit your member count and annual dues.
  • Add four photos of either the group or charities receiving quilts.
  • Add your meeting schedule as a repeating event with the add an event button. (if not already added)
  • Add your next show with the add an event button.

Editing in the future:

  • Login to QuiltingHub.com
  • Blue [My Account] > My Pages > View Detail (to get to your listing)
  • Blue [My Account] > Add An Event (do add an event)

Managing Admins:

  • Login to QuiltingHub.com
  • Blue [My Account] > My Pages > View Detail
  • White [Admin Menu] > Admins
  • To delete an admin, click the red X.
  • To add an Admin, have them register as a user first, then click add an admin, enter their email address, click search, click full access, and click update.

Local Advertising

Include your events in every paper, local events website, bulletin board, church flier, chamber of commerce, and any other local organization that helps your town grow. While costly, you could consider meetup.com.
